If you suffer from long term back pain and other related symptoms, you know how disruptive to your life this can be. Nonsurgical spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine. This takes pressure off the spinal disc, which are the gel-like cushions between the bones in your spine. This in turn, helps promote movement of water, oxygen, and nutrient-rich fluids into the disks so they can heal.
Nonsurgical spinal decompression has treated:
- Back or neck pain or sciatica, which is pain, weakness, or tingling that extends down the leg
- Bulging or herniated discs or degenerative disc disease
- Worn spinal joints (called posterior facet syndrome)
- Injured or diseased spinal nerve roots
Spinal Decompression is performed on a specialized table. Decompression traction is applied slowly and gently by computer control, fully customized for each individual. Lying comfortably on the table, the patient is fitted with a wrap-around harness. The computer controlled traction device is then programmed to produce a gently progressive distraction of the spinal vertebrae and discs. With a series of such treatments, most patients experience a significant reduction or even elimination of symptoms, as discs and nerves undergo healing.
Treatments may last 13-20 minutes and may require several visits before seeing results.
